A-Rod; Yankees finally win one.

Last night A-Rod yelled something while running past the Blue Jays third baseman causing him to drop the ball. Some say that is poor sportsman-ship, and I agree. However, I am not going to criticize Alex for his move. He is doing what he needs to do to help the Yankees win. Maybe this little bit of criticism will help get them motivated. They are in LAST PLACE 13.5 games behind the Red Sox. This is simply not acceptable. Do what you have to do to win.

Uconn Huskies Baseball falls to Rutgers

Rutgers defeated the number 8 seed Uconn Huskies yesterday at Keyspan Park. The Huskies were down 7 to 1 in the Top of the 9th when the posted a 1 out, 5 run rally to fall only 1 run short of a tie game. The Huskies put together a hell of a run this year in the Big-East tournament. The Huskies became the first ever 8 seed to reach the conference championship game.

The Huskies tournament highlight could be Matt Untiet’s walk off home run that can be seen here.

As a side note, without Todd Frasier this year, the Rutgers team most likely would not have won this tournament. He was tournament MVP, hitting over.500.

I would also like to thank the classless Rutgers fan and his family who thought he would be funny yelling “we beat you at football, you suck, go home!” to all the Uconn family and friends who were waiting for the players to exit the stadium and board their bus as they left the ballpark. You were almost funny.

McGinn blanks USF

Brendon McGinn shut out the University of South Flordia in the second game of a 2 game set to advance the Huskies to the big east championship. This is McGinn’s 8 consecutive win this season and the first in big east play. The Huskies play again on saturday at 1:00 at the same Keyspan park to fight for the rights to represent the big east in the NCAA tournament.

The Huskies are playing remarkable well, the best ball of the season and they need it to beat a Rutgers team who is yet to lose this tournament and who swept the Huskies in regular season play. The Huskies get a Chest Bump, and an even bigger one when they win today.

Exotic Garage

Today I had the opportunity to check out a garage that was full of exotic cars.  Cars from Ferrari and Mercedes and Porsche.   I came to a realization about these cars; I don’t want to own one.  They are very beautiful cars, but people don’t drive them.  I don’t blame them either, I would be heartbroken to have any sort of damage done to these exquisite works of “automotive art.”  I will continue to beat the shit out of cars that I can afford, American muscle cars are my favorite anyway.

Nappo leads Huskies to Victory

Freshman Greg Nappo pitched his first career shutout over the University of South Florida today. The Huskies have to win a second game over USF tonight to advance to the championship game. Huskies beat USF 3-0. Head over to bigeast.org to check out the gametracker or to watch the game.

Huskies get revenge.

The huskies were down to their last out Thursday night facing an extra innings scenario, when Matt Untiet hit a game winning walk off home run to make the final score 8 to 7. The game was a rematch from the first game of the tournament when the Red Storm beat the huskies to send them into the losers bracket. The huskies got the ultimate revenge, knocking them Red Storm from the tournament. Huskies will fight to stay alive against the University of South Florida today at 1:00pm, if they can pull off a victory, they will play USF again at 6:00pm for the rights to the championship game. The championship game is being televised by ESPN U at 1:00 on Saturday. Good Luck Huskies.

Are you a skillful literary?

Edgar Allan Poe thinks he is. He thinks the first sentence has to tell you what the whole story is about. Clearly the man has no credibility, he married his 14 year old COUSIN, at the age of 24. Alright already, I have heard enough of Poe ranting and raving about the stupid raven, just give it up.

Husky Baseball: 5-2 over Pittsburg

After a tough loss to the St. John’s Red Storm, the Huskies rebounded to beat the University of Pittsburgh this past Tuesday in the Big East tournament. The huskies were led by junior lefty Mike Tarsi. Tarsi has been pitching remarkably well his past couple starts, throwing nearly 22 innings without allowing a run. The Huskies return to action tonight at 7:00 pm. The game is a rematch against St. John’s who beat the huskies in their opening game of the tournament. The game from Keyspan park in Brooklyn can be viewed here at the Big East baseball website. In most cases the annoucers for Husky baseball really don’t know what they are talking about or are really rough in their play-by-play, but when watching the video, it is not so bad. The game is also being broadcast over the internet by WTIC. You can tune into the game here. Just click on the listen button.

Yankees: put up or shut up

The lone highlights to the season seem to be Alex Rodriguez and his league leading home runs and the batting average of Derek Jeter. The yankees continue to have no success from an injured Mike Mussina, who has been topping out at just over 88 mph where as he normal can hit upwards of 92 mph. The past series with the Red Sox was a must win and normally taking 2 out of 3 games from the sox is satisfying, not sweeping really hurts. The Yanks are still 9.5 games back and we are almost a month from the all-star game. The front office needs to find some pitching and they need to do it fast.
