New Year’s Eve

It’s the middle of the afternoon on New Year’s Eve, 2007. I’m 22 1/2 and for the past 6 NYE I’ve been both willing and pressured to partake in heavy drinking and staying out late. Last year, I threw a NYE bash at my house up at UConn and I’d be lying if I told you I was looking forward to something of the same tonight. My plans tonight consist of talking a winter walk, a 15% chance of alcohol consumption, absolutely ZERO sequins or tight pants, a trip to the local supermarket, and conversing with a few members of my boyfriend’s family. Hallelujah for NYE 2007.

Make sure you check back for a few photos documenting my sure-to-be-riveting NYE.

What would you like to read?

Matt and I launched this website about 6 months ago and we’re just starting to take more and more interest in it.  Seeing as we want people to find it interesting and check it daily, I thought I’d ask for some feedback from you - anyone that’s reading it.  Do you enjoy our little anecdotes and cell pictures from our daily grind?  What do you want to read?

New guitar for Christmas

My wonderful girlfriend Amanda bought me a guitar for Christmas.  Its a Takamine Jasmine S35 acoustic guitar.  I brought it in to work today and Josh was nice enough to tune her up and teach me some chords.  He proceeded to laugh at me when I took pictures of the finger positions with my cell phone.  You can see the guitar and my funny pictures below.

Random trip to the mall

Nick, Amanda and I went to the mall for dinner last night. We ended up eating at Ruby Tuesday’s. While we were waiting for a table, we went into EMS across the way and spent some time looking for hats. We got a little discouraged after talking to Adam from the Danbury Fair Mall store. He was rude and not much of a help. Come to think of it, no one in the store was a help at all, we didn’t get greeted by the 3 guys standing in the front of the store and when we asked for help with a size, they said “whatever is on the rack is what we have”. I know that line from my retail experience… “F you too!”

Ruby Tuesdays however was quite enjoyable. We ended up with cheeseburgers all around and the “never ending salad bar for 2.99 with our entrees”. Nick seems to think he ate the most, but I don’t buy it for a second. I did manage to snap a picture or two of him SHOVING HIS FACE! Check out the hats I was rockin’ see if you can guess which one I bought.

OH YEA, one last thing. While we were walking into the mall, we stumbled upon two hardcore gothic lesbos making out relentlessly. It was funny the first time we walked by, but we had to go by two more times as I forgot my wallet in the car. Normally I would think that it was hot, but these girls were a little chunky…:)

Xbox 360 Ring of Death Followup - Towel Trick

So I was talking to a friend of mine and he had mentioned that he heard of a ‘towel trick’ to fix my broken xbox360. Apparently the first consoles had a problem with the heatsinks and would cause this problem. I decided to investigate and looked to cheap ass gamer .com and watched the video there. You can watch that video here.

So I promptly went home from work and wrapped my $400 game console up in 3 towels, and just to make sure i really toasted that little white box, i put a knit blanket and shirt that were laying on my bed on top. I let the box run for 25 minutes with nothing but the power cord attached. 25 minutes passed and i unwrapped the present. It wasn’t as warm as I was expecting, but it was hot. At this point I was skeptical that it would work for me, but after the 12 minutes I let it cool, I reattched the hard drive and the video cables. To my surprise and elation it worked!

From what i’ve read around the web this is a temporary fix, but luckily my box will be ready when I get some new games this xmas season. Microsoft has dealt with this problem and has promised to fix all of the ring of death errors for 3 years from purchase date! Thats how to step up and stand behind your product.

Update 12/26/07 : So the box is still freezing during games and movies, but isn’t giving the lights yet. Waiting for the lights to come back before I inquire with Microsoft about fixing the unit.

Tom Petty is the man

Just found this random quote while checking out the tablature for “wildflowers”… not that i can play guitar anyway.

“Let’s get to the point, and roll another joint” -Tom Petty

I do not condone this in any way.

p51 Mustang

My boss’s obsession with the p51 mustang and my love for lego’s led me to find this cool construction by some guy named Dave.

Must have taken a little while to figure this one out.

Xbox360 ring of death

Last night I turned my Xbox360 console on and it froze on the logo screen. Nothing else happened so I powered it down, unplugged all of the cables and reconnected everything and turned the power back on… same thing happened, this time I got three red lights. The upper right quadrant is was not red, but the other three were. Sounds like my box has to go to the repair center or I have to deal with replacing the pos. Thanks Microsoft!

I sure hope nobody gets me any xbox360 games for xmas!

275 MILLION!

275 Million doesn’t get you much anymore huh?  For some teams, it can get you a whole club of players for 2 seasons!!  But for the Yankees it gets you Alex Rodriguez.  There are many arguments for and against whether or not he is worth that kind of loot, but to me, the answer is a simple YES.  A-rod might not have helped the Yankees with a championsip yet, but he hasn’t helped anyone else either.  It would be a stab in the back if he had left for Boston and won the series his first year…

Good decision Yanks!
