1993 Saturn SL2

I bought this exquisite automobile in the fall of 2005 for $700. The car had a funky smell to it, maybe because the previous owner had it sitting under a pine tree for a year. I didn’t care, it ran and meant that I didn’t have to drive the T/A everyday. I replaced the radio and spearkers in the car, removed the pine needles from every surface, including the floor mats and spare tire well. Speaking of the spare tire well, that was full of matches for some reason… Did you try to blow the car up Josh? Well after all of that and 1 set of tires and 25,000 miles I traded her in for my 2007 Ion.

This car was so much fun to own. We had many good times together and she put up with a lot of shit from me. This is the car that got walked on (literally) causing the headliner to sag and later be held up with safety pins. The dome light swung from it’s wires like a chandelier, showing the adhesive stains from the duct tape that once held it in place. The trim pieces along the drivers door jam liked to slap me in the face at highway speeds with the windows down, but i didn’t mind because I would get my revenge. Her punishment was running with no oil for months on end. I have to give her credit, she never complained, but did like to give me lots of audible feedback.

One of my most fond memories from her is when she went from Danbury to Storrs in the valentine’s day blizzard of 2006, took us 4 hours,  but she got me there safe and sound, passing all kinds of cars stuck on the side of I-84.

Some would call her a piece of shit, but she will always be near and dear to my heart. RIP UDU
